Quick answers about how CDNGLD.ca works and how to compare gold and silver dealers in Canada. General information only, not investment advice.
CDNGLD.ca is an independent directory of businesses and websites that buy and sell gold and silver in Canada, organized by province and territory. It compares dealers openly so retail investors can see what each one charges and pays, and find a fair price.
No. CDNGLD.ca does not buy, sell, store, grade or ship metal and is not part of any transaction. You deal directly with the business you choose, on its terms.
Yes. Browsing the directory, the blog and the spot price panel is free. Paid consultations are separate, and their fees are confirmed in writing before you pay for anything.

No. As of the date on our terms page, no dealer has paid to be listed or ranked, and the site earns no commissions or referral fees from listed businesses. If that ever changes, paid placements will be labelled clearly.

No. A listing is not an endorsement, and a missing business does not mean anything negative about it. We do not guarantee that any dealer is honest, insured, registered or will honour a price. Do your own checks before dealing with anyone.

We check each dealer against its own website and show what it says it offers. Where a site could not be checked, or we could not verify something, the page says so.

We show a rating only when we can name the third-party page it came from, such as Trustpilot or Google, and we say when the number of reviews is small. We do not show letter grades or local ranking-site scores as ratings, and review summaries are our own paraphrase. We do not verify reviewers.

Either we could not find a rating page with a meaningful number of reviews, or the source did not allow us to check it. We would rather show no rating than a misleading one.
They are market reference prices for gold and silver in US dollars per troy ounce, from a third-party data source, refreshed about once an hour. They are indicative only, may be delayed, and are not a price any dealer will buy from or sell to you. If the live feed is unavailable, the panel shows a dated snapshot instead.

A troy ounce is the standard unit for pricing precious metals. One troy ounce is about 31.1 grams, which is slightly more than an ordinary (avoirdupois) ounce of about 28.35 grams.
Spot is the market price of the raw metal. Dealers add a premium to sell you coins or bars to cover minting, distribution and their margin, and they usually pay you a little less than spot when they buy. Premiums, spreads and fees vary by dealer and product, which is why comparing quotes matters.
Ask each dealer for the full price in writing on the same product and quantity, including premiums, fees, shipping, insurance and payment-method charges. For selling, ask what percentage of spot they pay, how they test items, and when you are paid. Compare the total, not just the headline number. This is general information, not advice.
Many reputable businesses sell online, but scams and counterfeits exist. Check the business's identity and location, read its written terms, use traceable payment where possible, and be wary of pressure to act quickly or to send money or metal to a third party. We cannot guarantee any seller.

Tax treatment depends on the product, the metal's purity and your own situation, and rules can change. CDNGLD.ca cannot give tax advice. Check with the Canada Revenue Agency or a qualified accountant before you buy or sell.
In some places, especially the territories and smaller markets, we could not verify many local dealers. Those pages are shorter, say so plainly, and point you to the Online page for dealers that serve the whole country. We would rather list fewer dealers we have checked than pad a page.
Tell us which business or city you have in mind and include a link to the dealer's own website. We review suggestions and add listings we can verify.

Dealers and readers can write to us with the page, the item and what should change, ideally with a source link. We correct verified errors, and business owners can ask for a listing to be updated or removed.
